When you create an account or use Mystery Lab, we may collect:

• Account information: Email address, display name, month and year of birth (for age verification), authentication provider (email, Google, Apple, or Telegram)
• Game preferences: Detective profile settings, companion selection, notification preferences, and display settings
• Game and conversation data: Messages exchanged during suspect interrogations and companion chats, including voice messages; case progress, accusations, and game outcomes
• Usage data: Device type, screen resolution, language, timezone, pages visited, session duration
• Location data: Approximate location derived from your IP address (country, state, city) — used for timezone detection and analytics only
• Payment data: Subscription status, bribe purchase history, and payment records (payment details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored on our servers)
• AI-generated media: Suspect mugshot images and crime scene illustrations generated during gameplay, stored on our servers and associated with your account

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate and deliver daily mystery cases, procedurally created AI suspects, and personalized detective companion interactions
• To track clues, contradictions, and evidence across suspect interrogations (3-level memory system), and to allow your detective companion to remember your investigation history and preferences
• To generate AI-created images (suspect mugshots and crime scene illustrations) associated with your cases
• To verify that you meet the minimum age requirement (13+)
• To process payments including subscriptions and in-app bribe purchases
• To calculate leaderboard rankings, XP, badges, detective ranks, and tournament standings
• To send daily case notifications, tournament alerts, and gameplay reminders (with your consent)
• To improve our service through analytics and error monitoring
• To send you updates about Mystery Lab (you can opt out at any time)

3. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

Mystery Lab uses artificial intelligence to generate suspect personalities and dialogue, detective companion responses, and case narratives. To provide this:

• Text generation: Your messages and conversation context are sent to third-party AI language model providers to generate suspect interrogation responses, companion dialogue, and case narratives
• Speech-to-text: Voice messages you send are processed by a third-party speech recognition service to convert them to text
• Text-to-speech: Suspect and companion messages may be converted to audio by a third-party voice synthesis service
• Image generation: Suspect descriptions and scene details are sent to a third-party image generation service to create mugshot portraits and crime scene illustrations

These third-party services process your data solely to generate responses and do not use it for their own model training. We do not share your name, email, or account details with these services — only the conversation content or scene descriptions necessary to generate a response or image.

4. Game Memory System

Mystery Lab uses a multi-level memory system to enhance gameplay. During suspect interrogations, the system tracks clues, contradictions, and evidence you uncover across multiple conversations. Your detective companion also maintains memory of your investigation history, preferences, and facts you share to provide continuity across cases. This data is stored on our servers and is associated with your account. You can delete individual companions (which deletes their memories) or your entire account at any time.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We use cloud infrastructure providers that comply with SOC 2 standards. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use session storage (not persistent cookies) to track your visit within a single browser session. This data is used solely for analytics and is not shared with advertisers.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data by contacting us
• Delete your account and all associated data through the app (Profile > Delete Account)
• Opt out of marketing communications via the unsubscribe link in any email
• Disable push notifications and email notifications in Profile settings
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format

8. Age Requirement

Mystery Lab is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We collect your month and year of birth to verify eligibility. If we determine that a user is under 13, their account and data will be deleted promptly.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Mystery Lab does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided us with personal information without their consent, please contact us and we will delete the information.

10. Consent to AI Data Processing

By creating an account, you explicitly consent to your messages being processed by third-party AI services as described in Section 3. This consent is required to use the service. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

11. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data, interrogation transcripts, companion memories, game progress, leaderboard history, and AI-generated images are permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymized analytics data may be retained for longer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
